One could think that practice is the same whatever we do, you do drills and then improve. I wish it was that simple as then you would improve faster but studies shows that to really get good you need to learn something about the practice itself.

Learning is what we do as human beings but to learn faster isn’t what we are taught or to be really better. We are told that when we practice we will eventually get it.

It all lies.

Its told to you and me by people who don’t know and worse? They don’t even know they don’t know they just think they know and some even have nice diplomas and teach and train Olympic athletes. Just because someone is appointed as a golf swing PGA trainer don’t mean they actually know what they are doing.

Its one reason some coaches do better as they are able to use different ways to improve the players.

Deep or deliberate practice has two components, one is the practice itself, singing, playing a instrument or such your actively doing something to improve your stuff. Second is how you plan to do that.

For example I told Hans yesterday to practice a new movement, he went with what he been told before that what should I focus on?

If it works, why not use it? Instead whatever else they try to do didn’t work and here is the kicker they didn’t notice that due to them didn’t know where to go.

  • Know where to go the result desired.
  • Plan ahead by knowing what is needed as a skill
  • Apply practice by focusing on the desired result.
  • The brain adapt to create the desired result.

However most people cant do that due to them being programmed by their school and teachers and modern trainers who don’t really understand how someone can go from a noob to a expert in weeks. I applied such with Putting and Hans sank everything the whole day so did his friend.

When you do practice it isn’t just a workout its about plan ahead knowing what the result are about and the skills to improve and not getting in your own way so the brain can adapt to the circumstance and allow you the learning curve acceleration.

I worked with a dyslexic student age 15, he went from bad grades like a 2 to a 4+ in ONE WEEK!His classmates said he had to cheat as he never been that good.

The impossible made possible due to he was bright but using a inefficient strategy as dyslexics do due to them don’t know what to do makes them slow.

Deliberate or deep practice was made popular by this Myelin talk but Sean Foley a golf coach to Tiger Woods still with whatever Myelin talk he had don’t know what to do to create a more efficient and optimal technique for his golfers and that just shows experts either in TV, popular in media or whatever else written books or appeared in magazines don’t mean they know their stuff.

Being famous don’t guarantee that they know what they are doing.

Its why I been relentless in the search for better ways to teach and coach as what I been taught wasn’t good enough, it was either deep group hypnosis and so called story telling teaching which sucked as people didn’t understand how they learned and the guy teaching cant explain it.

I hate such shit.

The gap between where you are and the desired result you want to have is all about planning ahead so your brain can adapt to the result you want to create it.

LOTR for example was written over 30 or so years, Tolkien re-wrote a lot of pages in that time, the same page over and over again until it worked. I been writing this blog for years now, and I write better today than I did when starting out, why? I practiced. There are no short cuts that use magic but there are more efficient ways to get it done.

It makes a lot of difference.

If your not improving in whatever you do practice then your either not clear about the desired result or the skill or such to get there.

You then block your own progress out.

I created a Olympic athlete performance in triathlon she could go on absolute max without holding anything back over and over again. She improved her time the first few months with 4 minutes after she met me. Hans hit 50 yards longer with 5 minutes with me. Kristine lowered her her run time with 4minutes, a feat unheard off in such sports as triathlon in a season.
