Have you been led to believe that you need to spend hours in the gym or working out at home to get a fit and healthy body?

I can admit that I was one of the believers too!  I used to workout for over an hour most days, practically pushing my body to its limit each and every time. I thought I had to be a slave to my workout in order to achieve great results.  However, as a busy mom to 3 young boys, I knew I could not maintain the long workouts.

I was thrilled when new studies came out which showed that shorts bursts of intense exercise for 30 minutes have the same effect as a 60-minute workout.  Umm…hello? Sign me up please!!

I’ve been incorporating this new trend in fitness for the past two years and have seen amazing results.  I lost my last 30 pounds by (high-intensity-interval-training) into my workout routines.  When you can give it your all for the full 30 minutes, you can achieve the same (or even better) results than if you were to workout at a moderate intensity for an hour or more.

And don’t think you need a lot of equipment to do these workouts either.  Just your body weight is enough.  For example, I used to hate pushups, but since incorporating them into my quick workout routines, I’ve increased my strength for a pushup over time and have grown to actually like them.

I’ve even managed to get a few of my friends on board with these workouts.  Many of my friends are busy moms just like myself, so when I tell them that they can achieve great results with just a quick 25-30 minute workout, they are all for it!  Many of them have also achieved amazing results by exercising this way, and are happy they don’t have to spend hours in the gym to get a fit and healthy body.
