Hugh Jackman has looked pretty amazing in most all of his movie roles especially any he has done lately and after watching a few it really inspired me. I looked up what gets him ready for movies like Wolverine and the new Wolverine that will be coming out soon. Lets take a look at the “” according straight from Jackman.
“For Wolverine, I ramp it up, I do an hour and a half a day in the gym and eat a thousand calories more a day than I would normally. And I train really hard. I crank up the Godsmack and Metallica. I yell and scream, which helps me get into the character and have a &%#$@ of a workout.”
With lots of heavy lifting and rests in between sets he mentioned mixing it up with light and heavy and fast and slow. “I’d change it up every 3 weeks,” he says. Bench pressing and performing leg presses up to 1,000 lbs was a lot of his focus. “When I have 315 pounds above me, there’s that little breaking point, you either get really pissed off at that weight, or you ask for help from your spotter. It’s that exact point — and every guy reading this article will recognize it — when Wolverine gets not just pissed off, but insanely pissed off. I try to reach that point every day in my workout. And then push through it.”
He did this in a two part workout: mass training and strength training
For mass he basically lifted heavy as you notice from his comment as well as increasing calorie intake with lean proteins. Second is the strength training which is why he looked so amazing because he was ripped and lean to show off definition better.
For the he cut down the lifting to once a week and did mostly interval cardio in the final week of each mass phase. This helped burn any fat accumulated from extra calories while maintaining the muscle mass created in the previous weeks.
