Workout Routines For Beginners At Home

If you counted every workout hiatus that you’ve ever had from the time you started, could you do it on one hand?

Yes, there is some momentum that propels you forward at the beginning of starting a workout routine, but maannn once you get off track, it is like an endless spiral of gluttonous eating, missed workouts, and constant distractions!

At that point, re-starting your fitness regimen begins to seem like such a tedious endeavor!

Wouldn’t it be awesome if someone gave you tips on how you could actually re-start a more lasting fitness routine?? I think so! And I think that’s why you should check out my awesome fit tip list below:

How to re-start (and stay on) a fitness routine:

#1 Don’t over do it!

I know, I know, if you’ve seen any of my workouts, that advice may sound a little hypocritical. However, what I would like to point out is that in between my intense routines are rest periods, recovery time, stretching (even some yoga), and lots of body maintenance. Your body can take a lot more than your mind will usually allow, but that does not mean that you can go around beating it up without the proper care post-workout.

It is common to want to go 100mph during your first week due to excitement and eagerness to hit your goals, but where does that leave you for week 2? The only thing that will happen if you try to accomplish every exercise you’ve ever wanted to try in a single workout is extreme fatigue, burn out, unbearable soreness, and, ultimately, a hatred for anything fitness related.

It’s very unlikely that you are going to hit your goal in one week anyway, so what’s the rush? Take your time. Space it out. Be consistent. And enjoy the journey!

#2 Never skip your warm-ups

You played sports. What did you do before every single game? Pre-game huddle, team run-out, and then warm-ups. The reason for this was to get your body prepped for the intense game that followed. Your workouts should be no different!

You have to allow yourself ample time to get your body warmed up, stretched out, and ready to go all out. This is important especially if you’re just starting back. Your body can’t just go from sedentary to full blown activity without some type of warning.

#3 Add to (don’t take away from) your diet.

Typically, we think of diets in a restrictive manner—what we can’t have, what we must give up, what we will miss out on. Try to train your mind to see your new eating plan as a lifestyle switch, as opposed to a diet.

What can you add to your diet to make it more satisfying, fulfilling, and healthy? What types of spices, herbs, sauces can you use to give food more flavor and taste? How can you enhance the way you eat instead of deprive yourself?

If you allow yourself to focus on what you can have, then you will forget all about what you’re lacking! Not to mention you will be far more satisfied because nature has provided us with some pretty tasty options!

#4 Know your WHY (wholeheartedly)

I will repeat this to you 1 million times if I have to! You have to know why you are doing this and be able to recite that reason to yourself at any given moment. You start (or re-start) a fitness journey with tons of motivation, but, over time, that feeling dwindles. At that point, you are going to need something much more substantial and much more deeply rooted to keep you going—that is your WHY!

Your WHY is entirely subjective and can be anything that is real to you! Whatever it is, write it down, memorize it, and engrain it into your head because you are going to need to whip it out at a moments notice in those times when you absolutely want to quit!

#5 Recognize the power of NOW

You can be the type of person who gives into the notion that tomorrow will be better, or you can take the reigns of your life starting NOW! There will never be a perfect day to start achieving your goals, so it all comes down to priorities. You have to make your health your priority because no one—not your doctor, not your friends, not your significant other, not even your trainer—will do it for you!

It all comes down to your willpower, your desire, and your word. If you don’t keep your promises to yourself, then who will? You made a decision to get back into shape, and you must see that decision through to the end!

NOW is the perfect time. NOW is when you change. NOW is your chance to change your life.

All you have to do is start… When you’re ready to commit, Femme Fitcamp is here to help guide you along the way!
