But I do know that it’s better to be safe – remember a couple of years ago when it took you 7 hours to walk home after work because you couldn’t leave early? I do, and it’s only been recently that I’ll put ice in my tea again, even during the summer. Best to avoid that scenario altogether. Now, for Saturday, we will have the benefit of knowing if the snow and ice is really here, and we’ll post if we’re open or closed by 5 am. Until then, stock up on hot chocolate, dust off that Frozen DVD and enjoy a cozy evening! Wes Happy New Year Red Hots! 2016 is off and running, promising to be an eventful year! Now it is time to shape our lives. Just as we have harnessed the discipline to shape our bodies into poses, we use the same lessons to shape our perspective, to admit our truths and to see past the negativity and distractions that wear us down. To do this, we must burn away misconception and careless action. We require self-honesty and determination to make decisions that may not be easy, but are better. Once we call out those things that make us unhappy, we allow room for what we truly need and the simple and undeniable pleasure of our work will lead us to a balanced life unencumbered by needless anxieties. The first and second workshops were amazing and we’re really looking forward to this one! Also, the Member price of $35 is just one benefit of the RHY Membership! A lot of folks have asked how thisworks and for the annual price of $29, you get 40% off of 5, 10 & 20 class cards, anytime you are ready to buy so no more waiting for deals! Stay warm, be strong and remember, at least we don’t live in the Northeast! Heh. *** IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN… And by “that time of year”, I am of course referring to the winter weather season. As you read this, Meteorologists are drinking Red Bull and practicing faces in the mirror as they say STATE OF EMERGENCY! But you already know that and all you need to hear is whether or not the studios are open. So this is how we’re gonna roll: MONDAY EVENING (tonight): BUCKHEAD – OPEN FOR ALL CLASSES ALPHARETTA – OPEN FOR ALL CLASSES TUESDAY MORNING (tomorrow morning): PLEASECHECK HERE AT 5:15 AM FOR THE UPDATE. There is the threat of ice on the roads tomorrow morning, especially in the Alpharetta area. I’ll be watching the newscasts at 5 to see what the roads are like (I’ll be drinking coffee, mind you, and not Red Bull) and we’ll make the call then. The important part to remember is to let common sense be your guide. If the roads are icy, we’ll be closed. If the roads are clear, we’ll be open. We won’t freak over a little patch here and there, but if there is actually weather (and you’ll be able to tell instantly because the Meteorologists will have been up all night with one eye kind of squinting while they are screaming about THE DANGER) then we’ll be closed and will update here throughout the morning as to when we’ll open. Stay safe, stay warm, and if you do get the morning off, check out where Bethany is going week by week with thoughts on themes of life, how-to instructions on poses and a recording of the January workshop she did in Alpharetta! It’sthe next best thing to being at the studio! HOLIDAYS & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hello Red Hots! We have a new Alpharetta schedule & holiday schedule announcements to list, so grab some hot chocolate and read on! New Alpharetta Schedule: We’ve studied the traffic patterns of the Alpharetta community and concluded that a few schedule adjustments are in order (we actually would have done this sooner, but we just got back to our computer because of traffic). In order of the hour: 1. We’ve changed the 6:30 AM classes to start earlier at 6:00 AM. They are still an hour so you’ll have an extra half hour to beat the AM rush. 2. The 9:30 AM classes will start later at 10:00 AM to avoid rush hour. 3. We’ve added a new Yoga Core class on Saturdays at 4 PM. It’s 60 minutes of Power and all about those abs. 4. We’ve kept the 6:00 Hot 1 class on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. BUT, we’re moving it to 6:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 5. We’re changing the late schedule altogether… Mondays & Wednesdays willnow have a 6:30 Power 1 class for 60 minutes *no more 7:45 PM classes on Monday and Wednesday. These will be added back in later as we grow! Tuesdays and Thursdays will now have 7:00 PM Yoga Core classes for 60 minutes! Theses changes are in effect and our online schedules have been updated! *** Our 12:30 Saturday classes at Buckhead & Alpharetta are now $5. It’s still the best deal in town, as we’ve always intended it to be and you are welcome to either use a class (if your Groupon is less than $5 a class, this makes sense) or just pop in for $5. *** The Holiday Schedule: (This will be posted in the studios as well) Wednesday, December 24th Buckhead – No 6 am class – 9:30 AM class only, then studio closes. Not only do you save a life and provide a home… If you adopt 8, you have a full team that can travel over snow and ice, no problem. W Thursday 2:30 PM Update: We will open for the 4:30 and 6:00 pm classes! No 7:30 classes though, as there is no point in risking it. For Friday, the 6 am is cancelled, but then it’s back to the regular schedule. The roads are in pretty good shape but there are still patches of ice under bridges and in shady areas, and a lot of abandoned vehicles are still on the sides of the roads. Take it slow and you’ll be fine. W Thursday, January 30th Weare going to cancel the 12:00 Lunch Crunch today as people are trying to recover their vehicles. However, I will post an update by 3 pm this afternoon regarding the evening classes. If the streets are passable and drying, we’ll open. If the streets are still wet and will refreeze, we’ll stay closed. My thought is that we might be open for the 4:30 and 6 pm classes, but like I said, I’ll confirm that by 3. W Wednesday, January 29th Hello Red Hots, Needless to say, all classes are cancelled for today (Wednesday) and all morning classes for tomorrow (Thursday). Folks will need today to recover their cars and the city needs space to salt the roads – and then it will all freeze over again tonight, so we’re certainly not encouraging anyone to hop in a car. I’ll update again tomorrow by 10 am to make a call on the Lunch Crunch. Stay safe and warm! W January 28, 2014 We’ve got snow y’all. And it’s already snarling traffic, so we’re going to cancel the following classes: Tuesday, 1/28 – Allevening classes canceled. Wednesday, 1/29 – 6 am & 9:30 am classes canceled with an update to be posted by 10 am regarding the Lunch Crunch and evening classes. I’ll be back on by 10 am. This account will let you track how many classes you’ve taken, purchase classes, and it automatically adds you to our email list, which is important because we’ll let you know about deals… Now, here’s what most folks want to know before buying: 1.You don’t need a reservation to take a class – we don’t even accept them – so check out the schedule (it’s always current), roll up your mat, and come on down. We’ve got one of the biggest studio in the Southeast! If by chance it is too crowded, we’ll even buy you a class. 2. You buy 10 or 20 classes and enjoy them. 4. Please turn off or silence all of your electronics, and don’t bring them into the room! *Once class begins, the instructor will talk you through the poses. Just follow along, stick to the poses they are teaching, and do what you can. You’ll get a little bit more flexible each time you practice, and you’ll be surprised how quickly you make progress! Also, if you ever get tired, just lay on your mat to rest. Our complete schedule is posted on our Schedule page, so just click on the link above to see it. It’s always updated, and we don’t change it very often, but we do post updates there (as well as here) in case of bad weather. To take a class, just choose the time you would like to come in, and arrive about 15 or 20 minutes before the start time listed. No reservations are necessary (we have the biggest room in the city, baby!) and all you need to bring is a mat, a towel (one to put over your mat,and one for after class) and some water. We do have mats, towels and water in case you suddenly find yourself in desperate need of a yoga class (which does happen, and more often than you may realize, heh). Want to speed things up? Print off this New Student Info card, , fill ‘er out, bring ‘er in, and please pay close attention to the part about injuries! Then, If you are new, go for the Hot class! You will practice as the instructor describes each pose in detail, lay down to rest when you need to, and feel the benefits after your first class! A few common rules of studio etiquette are to keep quiet when in the yoga room, leave all of your belongings, especially electronics, outside of the room (and on silent), and to be courteous in general to all of the people around you! There are more detailed tips on the First Timers page, so check it out when you have a moment. Any other questions? Go to our About Us page, drop down to Contact Us, and email or call. Then, we’ll see you in class! This studio is owned and operated by Bethany & Wes Vaughn (and Lachlan) and represents all of the experience we’ve gained over the last nine years. It’s the fifth studio we’ve built, and is by far our favorite. The studio is 4200 square feet with two large yoga rooms and spacious changing rooms, both with two showers. The space used to belong to a company that sold and installed antique wood flooring, so the entire studio is floored in wide plank hardwood and pine. Some of the wood is over 100 years old, and several different styles and finishes are featured throughout the studio. It’s lovely to walk and practice on, and you can get some great ideas for your next home renovation! We took no chances with the heat. We’ve installed two massive heat blowers that are gas fed (our favorite), and let us control the heat to the degree. In a word, these units are awesome. To balance out the heat, we’ve also installed two industrial strength humidifiers, so the room feels just right. There arelots of other nice touches as well. There’s a nice seating area, plenty of space to store your gear, iPads to sign in with, and an ice cream cooler that keeps the water chilled nicely. If you have any questions, you can email or call us, but the best thing to do is to come on in and see us! Welcome!
