The Best Core Workouts for Women

Core workouts are much more involved than just simple sit-ups. Your core is the stabilizer that holds the body in alignment while other parts of the body are moving! Your core makes movements happen and controls your momentum. It determines the capability of your joints! In essence, core exercises work out the entire body versus isolating one part. In other words, they’re VERY beneficial! Here are some specific workouts for core training that will help anyone get in shape. Push-ups and Pull-ups

Push-ups and pull-ups require constant use of the core. They will align your body and keep it strong without having to use your back or neck muscles, therefore risking injury. Put simply, consistent push-ups and pull-ups allow the core muscles in your body to be really work hard, much more so than mostly any other exercise.

Jumping Rope

Jumping rope is a great core workout. It requires good form and posture, so that you can jump repetitively without feeling tired or out of breath. Jumping rope helps to teach the core muscles to take in shock as you jump, while keeping the spine tall. The correct way to jump (that stimulates the core best) is by putting your feet on the floor facing forward. Swing the rope over your head (FORWARD). As it comes down, jump over the rope and land both feet on the ground equally. Don’t hop around until you’ve mastered this. When hopping over the rope, don’t jump too high, just enough to make sure you just clear the rope. Try this for a minute or two and try to build a consistent rhythm. Increase the time you jump rope every day, until you can do this continually for at least three to five minutes without stopping.

Squats and Lunges

Squats and lunges work similarly to push-ups and pull-ups. They allow the legs, hips and core to all work as a team. When you lower your body down, your core decelerates. When you move back up, the core accelerates. All of these workouts will help to keep the spine smooth and neutrally positioned.
