Whine – Whether your in a party with your drink or in the room with your mirror, we ladies love a little whine session and why not? This dance move is a great ab workout and also gives the quads a run for their money. By squatting and whining your hips in a circular motion you are engaging your abs while seemingly working the legs out. To really kick it up a notch try to whine like Africans and refrain from moving your upper body at all. Just focus on whining the hips because they like to do it fast and go all the way down and come back up. Doing this for 20 seconds had my legs burning!

Tick tock hinge – Every girls favorite throw back dance, when “rich girl” plays on the radio all the ladies like to tick tock their bodies going back as they hinge. When we were young it was all about who could go back the furthest, little did we know that we were not just challenging each other but also challenging our abs to keep us from falling to the ground. Get with your girls and throw on some old school reggae and work it out!

Plank twerk– I remember when Sean Paul’s “Get Busy” video first aired on television and all the girls wanted to learn every dance move done. One of the most popular moves from the video had to be hen the two ladies put one hand on the ground, almost in a one handed plank position and began bounce the butt from side to side. This dance hall move is a great way to give yourself a full body workout. Switch your holding arms for a great upper body workout and let the abs get that butt moving. Your legs will also get tone from providing you stability to complete this move.

Wall headstand – Another popular throwback move that is sweeping social media thanks to Diplo. Ever since first having girls twerk on his set table, fans all over jump on their walls and twerk for the cameras posting their headstand pics. This is another intense dance move that will help you get those toned FLOTUS arms you’ve been craving for the Spring.

Side jumps – If you ever want to feel like a B Boy while giving your body a great cardio workout then side jumps is the move for you. I always warm my students up with this move because its fun and will have you sweating fast. Just throw on some Chris Brown “Beautiful People” and jump from side to side bringing your arms up.

These moves can be done alone in your room but where is the fun in that? Get your girls together and bust a move! You’ll be getting fit in no time and even have a few moves to display on the dance floor of your next event. You can pace yourself and have fun with it. What are some moves you like to do to stay fit?
